Devon Francke
Education Program Coordinator
Devon started working with Keep Pinellas Beautiful as a volunteer/intern in May of 2018 and officially joined the team as a part-time staff member in January of 2020. Now as the Education Program Coordinator, Devon is leading the design and implementation of a microplastics education and outreach program, engaging the community in virtual and in-person educational experiences, creating K-12 marine debris and microplastic curriculum, and leading beach cleanups focused on the removal of plastics from our waterways.
Devon’s passion has always been in environmental conservation, but instantly became marine-focused when he had the privilege of scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. Since then, Devon has acquired marine biology and ecology skills and knowledge through various opportunities around the world – as an intern with the School for Field Studies in the Turks and Caicos Islands, earning his Master’s in Marine Science at Hawaii Pacific University, working as a Marine Turtle Research Associate with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Honolulu, Hawaii, and supervising the Sea Turtle and Aquatic Biology Department with Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
In his spare time, Devon loves to cook and grill, scuba dive, watch movies, play kickball, and cheer on his Wisconsin Badgers.
